Finding great places to live isn’t just our business, it’s who we are. And 5 Points Realty agents live in some amazing neighborhoods. We are starting a new series where our agents take turns telling us why they love their neighborhoods. Today, we are starting with Sumer Woods who lives in Belmont.

Not to be mistaken with the town of Belmont (which we also love, but that’s a topic for another day), Charlotte’s Belmont neighborhood is the enduring, charming, and much-changed shadow-of-uptown neighborhood. Belmont has separated itself from the pack in the iconic 28205 zip code that includes NODA, Plaza Midwood, and Country Club Heights

We asked our 5PR resident expert, Sumer Woods to tell you all about it.

Q: When did you move to Belmont?

My husband and I bought an empty lot in 2013 and finally built and moved into our home in November 2015. Q: Where did you move from and why?

We lived in a townhome in NoDa for three years, and we loved being there but wanted a single family home. By the time we started looking, land there had gotten so expensive. So, we decided to expand our search area. Our AMAZING real estate agent showed us some neighboring communities and we found a lovely corner lot in Belmont to build our dream home.

Q: How have you seen Belmont change?

Since we started calling Belmont home, several businesses have moved to the area. Now, with just a quick walk we can enjoy wine and charcuterie from The Culture Shop, a beer or flower bouquet from Bloom and Bottle, a burger from Ace #3 or Sweet Lew’s BBQ. We can grab a beer at Catawba Brewery, get the dog pampered at Gold Standard Grooming which just opened. Also, the Innovation Barn in the neighborhood is ground zero for Envision Charlotte, a public/private collaborative whose mission is to foster innovation to improve sustainability, resilience and quality of life. They even have a zero-waste café and an outdoor market every Saturday afternoon.

Q: What do you love about the Belmont neighborhood?

The Culture Shop is my favorite place to go in Belmont. The sandwiches are amazing and the wine and beer selection are outstanding. Until recently, wine and beer were only grab and go but they have started serving drinks on the premises. While the food and drink selection is excellent, my favorite part is the service. The owner and the staff are some of the nicest people we know. They always work with a smile and are eager to help.

I also love the greenway access. Whether we are walking the dog or biking to a nearby neighborhood, having a beautiful place to explore is a great way to start or end the day.

Thanks, Sumer! Stay tuned for more insider info from our agents’ neighborhoods.
