5 Points Realty’s agents are kinda design freaks, architectural and interior design superheroes. Our clients look to us for design advice, and we love giving it. We love that our expertise goes well beyond just helping someone buy or sell a house.   Often buyers want guidance on what to buy, where to find unique, conversation-starting pieces for their new home. But you don’t have to buy a home to get our advice on that! We are going to share the best spots around Charlotte to shop for furniture items that are on the more interesting side.

Understand that our design decisions are often tied to two core beliefs we share at 5 Points Realty.

  1. Keeping things out of the landfill. We have a great eye for spotting the life left in things.
  2. Promoting local as much as possible.

We even have 2 staging companies within the 5 Points Realty family that support those values: Redbird staging and Stella Home Staging.

So without further adieu, if you want your rooms to be truly one of a kind then check out these local furniture hotspots around the Charlotte area.

Sleepy Poet Antique Mall

Don’t mistake sleepy poet for some dusty ole lonely antique mall.  It is a bustling marketplace with over 60,000 sq/ft of different vendors.  They have an especially good selection of Mid Century Modern according to our real estate agent Cassee Cunningham.

WHAT’S IT GOOD FOR: This is a great place to find Coffee tables, seating (mostly chairs), dressers, cabinets, lamps.

Nadeau Furniture

This is a furniture store “with a soul”   The furniture is handmade and affordable. Those are two words that don’t often go in the same sentence. Nadeau Furniture was started by Tommy Nadeau.  The mission of this furniture store to curate pieces from around the world and make good furniture attainable is commendable.

WHAT’S IT GOOD FOR: This furniture store is especially good for dining tables, all kinds of storage i.e. consoles, dressers, side tables,

Slate

Slate is a “furniture and art collective”. It is not the most inexpensive place to shop but the quality is always very high.  The curation of the furniture and artwork is just a joy to look at whether you buy anything or not. You can find some definite conversation starters here. Good vibes.

WHAT’S IT GOOD FOR: There is a lot of original local artwork to choose from at very good price points, and beautiful rugs. It’s a great place to get a glamourous anything, especially couches, seating, dining sets, and dressers.

Myers Goods Home and Decor

Myers is a local store off Monroe Road and a favorite of 5 Points Agent/Broker Ian Leonard. It’s a more traditional type of furniture store that’s been around since 2017. Great styles and local delivery is just 4 days!

WHAT’S IT GOOD FOR: Myers covers the range of living room, bedroom, home office and even outdoor furniture. Their styles add a touch of elegance to a space.

*A quick note about beds.  Bed frames, headboards, and footboards are not as easy to come by in the stores we are suggesting, mainly because these items are very clunky and take up a lot of space.  We suggest, if you are looking for a bed, to visit a North Carolina-based furniture store.  A great place to shop for beds is the Hickory Furniture Mart. In fact, on the website, they provide a list of manufacturers.  You can easily find a North Carolina or American-made product.
