Uptown Charlotte’s Third Ward neighborhood has one of the most exquisite places to be on a spring evening: Truist Field, the home of the Charlotte Knights, the AAA affiliate of the Chicago White Sox.
On a particularly spectacular night in April, 5 Points Realty hosted hundreds of folks for our annual client appreciation night. The Charlotte Knights took on the Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp, (don’t you just love minor league team names?). The weather was warm, but not too hot. The green field popped under the stadium lights. In the air, you could hear people chatting and laughing. We had toys for the kids, hot food, drinks and a beautiful setting. Who could ask for more? Plus, the Knights skewered the Jumbo Shrimp, 12-5.
Speaking of shrimp, there is some fabulous fare at the ballpark. At Mac’s Speed Shop’s stand, you can get a Dragon’s Breath Burger with pimento cheese and habanero relish or a hot dog topped with beef brisket, orange soda coleslaw and a horseradish cream sauce. To wash it down, try local brewer Birdsong’s All Knight Long Blonde Ale (brewed specially for the Charlotte Knights).

For buyers who want that “in the heart of the city urban jungle vibe” there are several fantastic options. You can go high-rise-swank and watch Knights games from your 30th floor glass and steel tower in the 230 S. Tryon condos. A current listing in this building is in the $3 million range. A little closer to the ground in location and price are the Greenleaf condos that start at $300k. These are more “classic London flat” on the outside, modern and lofty on the inside.
If you don’t live uptown, Knights stadium is easy to get to.
