Like many cities and counties across the country, right now, Mecklenburg County is under a “Stay at home” order aimed at curbing the spread of Covid-19, commonly known as the coronavirus. We are only a few weeks in to “The New Normal”, and while a lot of it feels surreal and scary, it is inspiring to see how creative Charlotteans can be when dealt an uncertain hand. We love our community and each person that plays a part in making it so amazing. That’s why we are doing our part to keep it safe.

For those of you with dreams of finding the perfect house or wanting to list your home right now you have limited options. We are doing everything we can to be proactive for you in this challenging time.

While we think what we do is essential, Mecklenburg county would prefer we Stay at Home too. However, if you are currently under contract to buy or sell a home, we are thankfully allowed to see you through to closing. We know that this pandemic might add to the stress of closing but soon you’ll be safe and sound in your new home! It is worth noting that we are not allowed to attend home inspections in person per the ordnance. Hopefully the inspector is willing to do a video call to show and discuss any concerns.   Not surprisingly, most attorneys are not allowing us to actually attend closings in person either. Again, we are happy to FaceTime with you during this process to answer any questions.

The “Stay at Home” order also prevents us from showing property in or out of Mecklenburg County, holding virtual open houses( because we cannot even go to our own listing at the moment) or performing most functions related to listing a home like staging or taking photographs.

Of course, looking at current homes for sale online might be a nice break between homeschooling and picking up carry out. Go ahead. There’s nothing wrong with doing that (who doesn’t want to dream a little about how things will be when life returns to normal). We can still answer your real estate related questions. We’ll just have to meet virtually for awhile.

In the meantime, take care of yourself and each other. Don’t forget to get out and enjoy the city’s beautiful parks and greenways when you can. They are allowed under the ordinance.

Now might also be a good time to consider tackling that home improvement project you’ve been putting off. Everyone seems to be finding a little extra time these days. We believe this is all temporary. Take a deep breath. We are finding a path to get through all of this together, Charlotte!

To all our friends and neighbors who each have unique concerns during this time, our agents have expressed the willingness to help in any way we can, so don’t hesitate to call. You can also stay connected on our social media outlets (Facebook @5pointsrealty & Instagram @5pointsclt).
