You might say you can expect the unexpected with Carolina artist Raia Meister.
At 5 Points Realty, we take pride in our Carolina roots and support local artists. For our second artist exhibition, we are thrilled to showcase the exceptionally talented work of this multi-media artist on Friday, August 12th from 5:30pm to 7:30pm.
Meister’s work is colorful, meaningful and fun. “My work mirrors an ever-expanding, transitioning, and globalizing world where cultural synchronization is constant,” says Meister.
Among her work, you’ll find a toile pattern with skeletons, all kinds of creatures, geometric patterns, flowers as well as a new take on traditional cultural symbols. “My work is influenced by medieval art, folklore, realistic figurative works, postmodern art, and the strange beauty in everyday life,” says Meister.
Meister is an art teacher in Asheville. She is earning her master’s degree in K-12 art education from Winthrop University and loves sharing her passion for creating art with young people. In her free time, she likes to garden, spend time with friends and family, exercise and generally take it easy.
Her art is varied and beguiling. You could find one of Meister’s pieces to complement just about any room in your home. Reaching beyond framed prints, she offers her creations in dozens of different forms, from tapestries to shower curtains, wrapping paper to leggings.
We hope you’ll join the 5 Points family to admire her work, meet the artist and buy a unique piece of art to take home! 5% of each sale will go to Planned Parenthood and 5% will go to Time Out Youth. This event is free and open to the public. Everyone is welcome, even well-behaved kids! Wine, beer and light snacks will be provided. Musician, Chris Waters, will also be playing live. There is parking, but we also encourage locals to take the GoldLynx Streetcar; the French Street station is just a few steps away from our office door!
