Spring in the Carolinas is simply beautiful. You can tell when it’s here by the number of runners and dog walkers you’ll start to notice! Blooming trees make a walk around Charlotte neighborhoods even more enjoyable. It’s the perfect time for a little outdoor entertaining!

This season, getting together will feel a bit more special since it wasn’t possible for any of us last year!  So, rather than inviting friends and family over for the usual burgers and brews, level up your outdoor entertaining game with these ideas.

Casual Brunch

Instead of hosting a group dinner, try a weekend brunch! There are great brunch menu ideas on the internet – Thank you, Google. Don’t forget to add some music in the background (Not too loud! You don’t want guests to shout at each other over the music) and even if it’s daytime, small candles are a nice touch. A brunch might be a good way to reunite with friends and family you haven’t seen in awhile and give you some quality time to catch up!

Cheese and Cocktails

Cause, really, who doesn’t love cheese and cocktails?

Cheese and Charcuterie boards are all the rage. Make them yourself (Pinterest has droves and droves of ideas) or support a local Charlotte business and save yourself time and let them make you one. You have lots of options (and some deliver!)  like SomethingBleuCLT or Stylebytribe  or QueenBrieCLT.

Wine and beer are safe bets but choosing a signature cocktail makes it feel more special.

If you have a fire pit, light it up and add some ambience to the get-together.

Outdoor movie night

Mild temps in May are perfect for outdoor entertaining. If you wait until Summer it can be too hot, not to mention, that’s prime mosquito season. Watching a movie while swatting away the biting insects is no way to spend the evening.

Now, for this option, you may need to purchase a few items (hauling your TV out to the porch is more hassle than it’s worth) like a projector. The good news is there are plenty of solid options in the $130-$200 range.

Finally, consider UPGRADING YOUR OUTDOOR SPACE.

Melamine dishes are shatterproof, and relatively inexpensive. They are a great way to brighten your patio dinner. Is it time to refresh your patio furniture cushions? Maybe you should install updated or string lighting to elevate the glam vibe. Add some seating. Freshen up the space with a new plant or two in a bright colorful pot or repurposed vase.

Whatever you decide to do, we are just glad that families and friends can begin to gather safely again! And if you decide you’ve outgrown your current outdoor space, let us know. We’ll help you find a new space to call your own.
